I know what it's like to be in chronic physical pain, where the smallest challenge seems almost insurmountable, and you're not able to do the things you love to do. When my spine was crushed in a work-related accident I was in a dark place. And it certainly didn't help when I lost my mother to cancer a year later while still working to repair my spine. At the same time, it's in those difficult moments that you're able to clarify what matters most — friends, family, health, and the ability to enjoy every moment of life as it was intended.
